About the Instructor

Jean's first musical love is singing. At age 13 she had an opportunity to learn guitar, and she jumped on it. Ever-curious about new sounds, as an adult Jean added banjo, fiddle, and ukulele to the list of instruments she plays. While she is mostly self-taught, she gratefully acknowledges the many generous teachers and players she has met over the years. Jean started teaching guitar and ukulele to students at Seacoast Charter School in Dover in 2016. She has also taught group ukulele lessons at the Portsmouth Public Library to children and adults. Jean believes that music-making is for everyone. Her approach is accessible, and most importantly, fun! The ukulele is an ideal instrument to start (or re-ignite) a musical journey, and she is so excited to be offering this class at Portsmouth Public Library.
