Details
As parents and caregivers, we have both the opportunity and responsibility to foster the skills and compassion our children need to thrive in a diverse world.
We live in a time that racism is both painfully real and very much a part of the conversation. Many parents and caregivers are looking for ways to engage effectively around such topics as injustice, bias, prejudice, valuing difference, marginalization and more. While it may appear challenging, there are many wonderful ways to bring age-appropriate learning into the home and raise children who can be part of making this a more equitable, just world.
In this three-part online program, we will establish a “safe/brave space” to:
- Identify what, where and how racism exists in our society
- Consider our own “racial awareness journey” and how it informs our parenting
- Explore best practices, provide resources and encourage “active, antiracist parenting”
Registration is required. Each session will be 90 minutes and there will be some reading, viewing and doing assignments prior to the first session and in-between. A commitment to all three sessions is requested.
This workshop will be presented by Anne Romney, who has facilitated Standing Up to Racism course for adults through PPL several times.
