Hospice Help Foundation in partnership with the Portsmouth Public Library will host an evening of reflections on loss and grief during the pandemic.
Navigating loss is never easy. The coronavirus pandemic meant that sources of comfort such as human contact and rituals were unavailable to many, and people were unable to gather to mourn in traditional ways.
Join panelists Pat Coughlin, a hospice social worker and Death Doula, Jeff Pelkey, funeral home director and public safety chaplain, and Carol Schoneberg, hospice educator and grief counselor, as they reflect on their experiences, and share insights about what new ways to connect during loss may remain with us going forward.
This discussion will be held as a Zoom webinar, and is free and open to the public.
Registration is required.
About the Presenters
Pat Coughlin is a Hospice Social Worker with Constellation Hospice. She is a certified Death Doula, a Death Cafe facilitator, and has provided support and compassion to hospice and palliative care patients for decades.
Jeff Pelkey established the J. S. Pelkey Funeral Home in 1999. He enjoys serving his community in several ways, including as 36 year veteran police officer, fire fighter and public safety chaplain. He was honored as the youngest Fabian Drake Award Recipient in Eliot.
Carol Schoneberg has been a hospice educator and grief counselor in Maine for 30 years. She is currently End-of-Life Educator, Bereavement Services Manager, and grief counselor at Hospice of Southern Maine since its inception in 2004. She believes strongly that helping people talk about their choices for end-of-life care can make a huge difference in the way families experience the dying process.
