Program Description

Details

After the Lunar New Year, the Moon Festival is the most celebrated holiday in Asian countries. In this virtual author visit for elementary school readers, award-winning author and illustrator Grace Lin will share the customs and traditions—and the stories!—of the Moon Festival.  Learn about Mooncakes and how they may have inspired the Fortune Cookie (as told in her book Chinese Menu: The History, Myths, and Legends Behind Your Favorite Foods) as well as the stories of the Moon Lady, the Prosperity Toad, and the Jade Rabbit! Grace will lead students in a draw-along of their own Prosperity Toad.

This 35-minute Zoom program concludes with a 10-minute Q&A. ASL will be provided.

Homeschool families can join us in the Levenson Room for this special webinar on Friday, September 29 - the date of the Moon Festival.
