Details
Join us for an afternoon of Scottish music, to enjoy toe-tapping reels and jigs, lively strathspeys and marches, and poignant slow airs performed by the skilled members of the New Hampshire Scottish Music Club. The group, founded in 1988 as the Strathspey and Reel Society of New Hampshire, aims to encourage the learning and preservation of traditional Scottish music. Though based in Concord, NH, the Society draws membership from Central New England. Their repertoire includes many of the standard Scottish fiddle tunes, but also tunes that are more obscure, or in some cases, recently composed in the Scottish tradition. This concert will include an orchestra of roughly 20 members who will perform on fiddles, flutes, accordions, and other stringed instruments!
Registration is not required. Space is limited, so plan to arrive early to secure your seat. This program is free and open to the public.
