Program Description

Details

Lanterns are a universal symbol of brightness, knowledge and guiding light. They show the way and provide hope in dark places. This year, The Alliance for Greater Good is hosting a Lantern Festival in September. At the gathering at South Mill Pond, participants will float paper lanterns in the pond as a way of encouraging the community to spread kindness, while raising funds for Seacoast Mental Health. The theme of the event is "Illuminating 400 Years of Community Kindness."

Ages 5 to 100 are welcome to decorate a lantern to float at the Lantern Festival! The Portsmouth Public Library, in collaboration with The Alliance for Greater Good, and the PNH 400 will provide all the supplies and lanterns. You supply the creativity to embellish your lantern with inspiring words, phrases, and images that remind all of us to be kind. Light refreshments will be provided.

Registration is required. Space is limited. Learn more about the Lantern Festival.
