Join us for a relaxing classical guitar concert by William Ghezzi. Mr. Ghezzi is back to perform for our Guitar Sundays music series which is co-hosted by the Portsmouth Public Library, Portsmouth Music and Arts Center, and sponsored by Service Credit Union. This event will be held at the Portsmouth Public Library, registration is not required, just drop by the library for this free concert.
Guitarist William Ghezzi has performed extensively with orchestras, chamber ensembles, choruses, dance companies, theater and operas, and for films, radio, and television. He has appeared with the Montpelier Chamber Orchestra, the Harry Partch Ensemble, the Philadelphia Guitar Ensemble, and in many other chamber music settings. Mr. Ghezzi can be heard on Pandora, Internet Radio, and SoundCloud his videos can be seen on YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, and Twitter. His latest recording, Still Life: Baroque Music for Guitar, is available at Bandcamp.
He has commissioned numerous solo and chamber music compositions for himself, the Newman/Ghezzi Guitar Duo, the Baxter/Ghezzi Flute & Guitar Duo, and the Philadelphia Guitar Ensemble including works by Robert Maggio, Laurie MacGregor, Kile Smith, Robert Capanna, and Jan Krzywicki. In 2013 he premiered "The Great Valley No.7", for solo guitar, part of a series of pieces composed by Paul A. Epstein, inspired by the paintings "La Grande Vallée" by the abstract expressionist painter Joan Mitchell, and dedicated to the memory of Mr. Ghezzi's teacher, Peter Segal.
Mr. Ghezzi holds a music degree from Temple University, College of Music where he studied with Peter Segal and Anna Kotsaranko. He has studied privately with Phillip de Fremery, Eliot Fisk, and Vladimir Mikulka. He has been on the music faculties of Temple University, Chestnut Hill College, and Settlement Music School in Philadelphia. Mr. Ghezzi lives in West Lebanon, New Hampshire.
