Students in grades 3 and 4 are invited to meet with other readers to talk books and trivia! This month's book is Maya and the Robot, written by Eve Ewing and illustrated by Christine Almeda.
From the publisher:
"... an illustrated middle grade novel about a forgotten homemade robot who comes to life just when aspiring fifth-grade scientist Maya needs a friend — and a science fair project.... Once she uses her science skills to get him up and running, a whole new world of connection opens up as Ralph becomes a member of her family and Maya begins to step into her power. In this touching novel, Eve L. Ewing melds together a story about community, adapting to change, and the magic of ingenuity that reminds young readers that they can always turn to their own curiosity when feeling lost."
Students can pick up the book at the library any time ahead of time and then join us for a fun conversation and related activities about the book (plus some MadLibs!). Registration is required. Questions? Please contact Grace by emailing gsvanhanley@cityofportsmouth.com
We will plan to meet under the tent in the field beside the library.
