On Display:
September 2- October 1
Levenson Community Room

Join us for the Meet the Artists Reception!
Saturday, September 6 | 2-4 | Levenson Room.

Don't miss the September 2025 Inside/Outside Exhibit featuring the works of The Artists of Rogers Point at the Portsmouth Public Library during the month of September. Come view the art created by this group of local artists who are interested in and love all forms of abstract art. They work in many media to express and explore abstract ideas. After forming a workshop entitled “Towards Abstraction” with well-known seacoast artist, Tom Glover, the group has been meeting monthly for almost 2 years for abstract critiques with their mentor.

The work brought together at the library represents the artists’ individual movement from earlier representational work towards abstraction in their work, including varying degrees of abstraction.  As Tom has reminded the group, “Andrew Wyeth said he was an abstract painter, and Robert Motherwell said all paintings are abstract”.

Members of the group include Barbara Adams, Maryhop Brandon, Deborah Cartwright, Susan Fried, Inger Gregory, Tracy Matheson, Julie Serrano, and Pamela Traver.

All are welcome to the “Meet the Artists” Reception on Saturday, September 6. The artists will say a few words and answer questions. Light refreshments will be served. Free and open to all. No registration required.
