Join us for our December Guitar Sundays concert at Portsmouth Public Library, featuring three students of BCGS!  Come listen and be soothed by the beautiful music performed by these classical guitarists. The concert features musicians Michael Neverisky, Celeste McClain, and Mitch Shuldman.

About the Performers
Michael Neverisky has played jazz, ragtime, folk, classical, and old-time country music on the guitar, five-string banjo, mandolin, and fiddle since the 1900s.

Celeste McClain received a Bachelor of Music Performance in guitar from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell in 1979, where she studied with Neil Anderson, and a Master of Music in Opera Performance at the Longy School of Music.

Ms. McClain spent many years as a financial application software developer, and a professional actor and singer.  She has performed on stage at Boston Lyric Stage, Worcester Foothills, American Stage Festival, and the Capital Center for the Arts in Concord NH. She has also sung with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus.

She returned to serious guitar study under the late Frank Wallace and played guitar for ten seasons of the Festival of Mandolin Chamber Music in Brattleboro, VT. Currently a student of Dave McLellan, she has also worked with Chris Ladd. She serves on the Board of the Boston Classical Guitar Society.

Ms. McClain is devoted to her husband John and their three Maine Coon cats, enjoys travel to exotic locations, such as the Galapagos Islands, and makes chainmaille jewelry.

Mitch Shuldman has been playing guitar for most of his life.  He holds a BA in music history with a concentration in
classical guitar from SUNY Cortland, an MS in Library Science from Simmons College, and an Ed D from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Mitch is currently an online student of Jason Vieaux (2015 Grammy Award winner for Best Classical Instrumental Album) through Artistworks, an online music and art school. During the very early years of NHPR (1980-84), Mitch hosted the weekly classical guitar radio show Excursions, and the nightly jazz program (1981-84).  He is the curator of Guitar Sundays, a mostly classical guitar series in Portsmouth. He sings with Portsmouth Pro Musica and performs with Linda Bieber in a classical flute and guitar duo called Noteworthy.  He served eight years on the Portsmouth School Board– four of them as chair.
