Gundalows played an important part in Portsmouth's heritage. Gundalows were used until the late 1800s as the delivery trucks and tractor trailers of history, transporting cargo and passengers to the towns around the Seacoast. With a flat bottom and wide beam, gundalows were not as glamorous as the fancier schooners and clippers, but they could travel over the mud flats that were dangerous to the deep-water sailing ships. Most of these ships are no longer in use, but the last remaining gundalow, named the Piscataqua, after the river on which it sails, is an iconic part of the Portsmouth, New Hampshire shoreline.

Join us and Gundalow game creator Kevin Trainer of Ebb Tide Games for an evening of trade, adventure, and history as we learn to play Gundalow: the board game!

Would-be mariners and aspiring historians age six years and older are called to gather to become the captains of your very own trade vessels traversing the Great Bay!

When you’re done playing, drop your name into a drawing for an opportunity to win an amazing prize!
