The Portsmouth Library is excited to bring Shelly J. Goncalves to the library to present this unique program. She will be bringing over 100 fans from the 18th century to the present from all around the world.  Showcased will be fans made with bone, ivory, tortoiseshell, feathers, mother of pearl, celluloid, & modern.

Do you have a fan at home and want to know more about it, where it was made, or what it was made of?  Bring it in for fan identification only.  No value estimates will be given.

About the presenter: Shelly J. Goncalves has collected antique hand fans for over 50 years.  She is a member of the Fan Association of North America (FANA) and the Fan Circle International (FCI) where she was a former board member.  Her
favorite hand fans are made with mother of pearl.

Please note: Ms. Goncalves has graciously allowed us to display her collection throughout the month of December. This display will be in the Library Lobby and provide a backdrop to our Regency Ball.
