Details
Alzheimer's disease causes several changes in the brain and body that may affect safety. Depending on the stage of the disease, these can include:
- Judgment: forgetting how to use household appliances, tools, etc.
- Sense of time and place: getting lost in formerly familiar places
- Behavior: becoming easily confused, suspicious or fearful
- Physical ability: having trouble with balance, depth perception and more
- Senses: experiencing changes in vision, hearing, sensitivity to temperatures or becoming overwhelmed in noisy or busy environments
In this free, online program, we will look at how Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias can affect the brain and what we can do to ensure the safety of the people we are caring for.
