Details

More than 6,000,000 people are living with Alzheimer's in the US, 55,000,000 people are impacted by these diseases worldwide, and more than 11,000,000 people are providing unpaid care for people afflicted with Alzheimer's or dementia.

Communicating effectively with people living with Alzheimer's or dementia is important to maintain their quality of life, relationships, and sense of self. Good communication can also help them feel valued and included. As these memory conditions progress, it can become more difficult to understand the needs, wishes, and emotions of the person you are caring for.

Join us via Zoom for an online program offered by The Alzheimer's Association designed for caregivers, family, friends, and those interested in learning more.

In this online program, you will learn:

  • How dementia and Alzheimer's Disease affect communication.
  • Strategies and tips to help you communicate well with a person living with these diseases.
  • Ways to improve communication with family, friends, and health care professionals.
  • How a person-centered approach can help with communication.
  • And more.

Registration is required to receive the Zoom link.

About the Presenter, Anne Romney, and The Alzheimer's Association

Anne Romney has been a volunteer presenter for both the Maine and NH/MA chapters of the Alzheimer’s Association for the past 13+ years. Anne presents workshops and has led Legacy Storytelling programs that bring people in the early stage of dementia together with student scribes who listen and record memories shared. Anne has training in support groups for caregivers and sees each program as an opportunity to educate, support, and provide resources to participants. Anne has an M Ed in Counseling from Lesley University and lives in Portsmouth, NH.
