Managing Money – A Caregiver’s Guide to Finances

One of the challenges caregivers of aging parents (or other relations) often face is when and how to intervene around 
issues of finances. This can be a very sensitive topic to approach and can meet with resistance and high emotion. 

In this free online program, we will look at ways to have these important yet difficult conversations about money.  You will learn steps to minimize risks of financial harm and help your loved one maintain a sense of autonomy and respect as much as possible.
 

In the program, we will:

• Describe how caregiving affects finances.
• List the legal and financial documents caregivers should put in place.
• Prepare for useful discussions about financial decisions and planning.
• Identify steps to lower the chances of financial abuse and fraud.
• Begin to create a backup plan in case you can no longer provide care.
